Michael Mapp

Michael is a valued member of our Litigation team and provides clear, strategic advice across a wide range of legal disputes. He is known for his thorough approach and determination to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.

Michael can assist with matters including commercial litigation, contract disputes and debt recovery, building and construction disputes (including BIF Security of Payment claims), regulatory infringements and prosecutions involving WorkCover, local councils, Workplace Health and Safety, QBCC and the Office of Fair Trading, body corporate disputes, Australian Consumer Law matters, defamation, land use and local government disputes, and QCAT proceedings.

Michael has achieved outstanding results for clients, including recovering debts exceeding $1.2M, recovering compensation for equitable interests in land, securing compensation for defective goods, obtaining full refunds for luxury vehicles with latent defects, having criminal charges withdrawn pre-trial, resolving defamation matters with retractions and removal of content, and achieving favourable outcomes in body corporate and shareholder disputes.

Before joining McCarthy Durie Lawyers, Michael worked with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), where he was part of a team pursuing civil penalties through court action.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Visual Arts – Griffith University; Bachelor of Laws (Honours) – QUT; Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice – QUT. Memberships: Queensland Law Society; Master Builders Association Queensland.
